IN PERSON
It’s not like I said “golly” when rumours spread that Tommy Iommy kicked Ozzy out of Sabbath. I went completely out of my tiny mind.
I mean... the band of my childhood days..., when other kids drew trucks or happy trees, I drew skulls or beasts. Later in school I chose to talk about “The Diaries of a Mad Man“ rather than writing essays about “The catcher in the Rye“ or stuff like that. I even tattooed my knuckles with a pen just to look like him. I was there when Ozzy bit off the head of a bat or drank a bucket of piss. Seriously man, my world got a fragile crack that day, but I also decided to become an artist or musician or whatever.

Anyway after thirty years of school (repeated every class, some even twice) it is still not easy for me to talk about my projects in general. Let`s just say my images are often influenced by mystical or religious background. The process of parting the sensory to get an immovably centred idea I find challenging and most important for my work. Thanks for visiting my site and don´t forget to go with the flow. …
INTERVIEW
Warry Bright & Barry White of StoneArt-Magazine with native sculptor Jan Roland at the Stone Convention, South-Dakota-Reservoir

(...)

JR: “Last question for the evening! Yeah, you in that fuzzy brown sweater.”
SA-Magazine: “Thanks, Mr. Roland. So, what you really trying to tell us is that the stone age ended because they ran out of stones?”
JR: “Yes, exactly! As a matter of fact, I do. You’ll find the proof in my new book The Eulogy of Stones.”
SA-Magazine: “Ah, alright man…”
